Deadly Boating Accidents in West Virginia
Many West Virginia residents have boats and enjoy going out of the water. Unfortunately, these vessels are not always safe, particularly when they are operated by people lacking necessary experience. According to the U.S. Coast Guard’s most recent report, the number of recreational boating accidents in the state climbed from 92 to 125 in recent years, and deaths jumped from 21 to 38. IF someone close to you is killed in a deadly boating accident, you may be able to be made whole again by working closely with a competent legal team to pursue a wrongful death case.
A wrongful death occurs when someone dies as a result of the negligence of another person, organization, or other entity. State law permits the surviving family members of the deceased to file a claim against the person or persons who caused the decedent’s death in order to get compensation. Typically, a West Virginia wrongful death lawyer helps families pursue claims for compensation after a wrongful death.
