Morgantown, WV (May 2, 2025) – On Wednesday, April 30, a driver was killed and others injured after a multi-vehicle crash in Morgantown. The deadly collision took place on Grafton Road at the 2500 block of Grafton Road that night at around 6 p.m. Three vehicles reportedly collided at the scene.
It was later revealed that a 2020 Harley-Davidson ridden by Brian Livingood of Reedsville was traveling south followed by a 2017 Ford F-250 driven by Jerry Robinson with a passenger, Michael Mitchell. It was then that a northbound 2003 Mercury Mountaineer operated by Chelsea Deziray Johnson of Uniontown crossed the center line and hit the rear of the motorcycle, causing it to crash. After, the Mercury crashed head-on with the Ford.
Emergency crews were quickly dispatched to provide aid to the involved parties. Johnson sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Livingood was transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital for intensive care. Robinson and Mitchell were both hospitalized for the treatment of sustained injuries. No further information on the crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is in the hands of local law enforcement officials.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
Motorcycle Accidents in West Virginia
Riding a motorcycle is a wonderful pastime enjoyed by many West Virginia residents, and there is nothing quite like the feeling and exhilaration of hitting the open road on the back of a bike. However, there are risks involved, and riders are much more exposed to the dangers of the road. 41 people died in motorcycle crashes across West Virginia in 2022, which is 41 percent more than the year before. For every 10,000 motorbikes reported in the state, seven people lost their lives. Alcohol was the cause of more than one-third of fatal motorbike accidents. People on motorcycles have 28 times the chance of dying in a crash than people in cars.
