Inwood, WV - Injuries in Pileup Semi Crash on I-81

Inwood, WV (May 14, 2025) – On Tuesday, May 13, a multi-vehicle crash involving three tractor-trailers in the Inwood area resulted in injuries. The collision took place on Interstate 81 near mile marker four in Berkeley County early that morning at around 2:37 a.m. It was reported that a BMW sedan was traveling southbound on the interstate when it hydroplaned, causing it to hit a guardrail and cross into the northbound lanes where it struck the side of a tractor-trailer.

The BMW became disabled in the center of the northbound lanes, and both the driver and passenger were able to exit the vehicle. The driver of an SUV traveling in the right northbound lane attempted to avoid the disabled BMW and hit another tractor-trailer, which caused the truck to hit the BMW and roll onto the driver’s side. Another tractor-trailer hit the overturned truck, and another SUV ran over the debris. Emergency crews were quickly dispatched to the scene. Those requiring treatment were transported to nearby hospitals. No further information on the crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the collision is in progress.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
