Charleston, WV (May 11, 2025) – Two people were killed and others were injured after a single-vehicle crash in the Charleston area on Sunday, May 11. The deadly accident took place on the I-77 interstate bridge onto Pennsylvania Avenue early that morning at around 4:33 a.m. Local reports indicated that the car hit a cement barrier, causing it to fall off the bridge where it landed by the Martin Marietta Charleston Yard on Pennsylvania Avenue.
Four people were reportedly traveling in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Emergency crews were quickly dispatched to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. Two people involved in the crash sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. The two other occupants were transported to a local hospital for the treatment of critical injuries. The area was temporarily closed as emergency responders were present. No further information on the accident is currently available.
